What are furniture glides used for, and why are they important?

Furniture glides protect your floor from scratches and wear. Sliding furniture with the wrong glides (or no glides at all) is the number one cause of floor damage. Most furniture comes with a plastic cap or glide, which is not suitable for hard floors. Dirt gets trapped between the hard cap and the floor, causing it to drag across the surface like sandpaper and resulting in damage. That’s why it’s wise to equip your furniture with high-quality furniture glides, ideally made of polyamide fibres.
